The publication notes that the US Congress has already demanded that Brussels also introduce new sanctions, “since the crime occurred on European soil.”

At the same time, the newspaper’s source in the EU structures expressed doubt that this would happen.

“Firstly, we consider the sanctions imposed due to the situation in Ukraine to be central to us. Secondly, given the unconstructive position of the United States on Iran and some other issues, I do not have the feeling that deep coordination is possible between Washington and Brussels,” the publication’s interlocutor said.

Let us recall that the British authorities accuse Russia of involvement in the poisoning of British spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter. In Moscow, these accusations are called unsubstantiated.
