Crimea and Donbass are forever lost regions for Ukraine. Liberal Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this on TV channel 112.

According to him, not a single Russian politician, even the most liberal one, will return Crimea to Ukraine.
“Crimea cannot be returned, because any Russian politician who more or less at least theoretically aspires to power does not promise to return Crimea, because he understands perfectly well that the majority of the population of Crimea and Russia will be against this. And Donbass is a frozen conflict, “Transnistria”. The Ukrainian government must admit that: a) Crimea is lost; b) Donbass is a frozen conflict of the Transnistrian type. Well, of course, under Petro Alekseevich Poroshenko this will not happen, because he is not able to say such radical things,” Belkovsky said.
At the same time, he clarified that the next president of Ukraine must address the population and admit that the authorities have done nothing to return Donbass: “Dear Ukrainians. We must admit that we have lost Donbass. Why we lost Donbass is another matter. We lost it because we did nothing to reintegrate it into Ukraine. But now we need to admit that Donbass is not ours. Well, God bless him."
