Umerov accused the Mufti of Crimea of treason
Members of the Mejlis claim that the chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea, Mufti Emirali Ablaev, is acting treacherously towards the Crimean Tatars.

This was stated in an interview with the Ukrainian Week magazine by the deputy head of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Ilmi Umerov, who was recently pardoned by the President of Russia and released from serving a sentence for extremist activities.

“The mufti became a traitor. At first he said that for the sake of the people and their peace, he was ready to cooperate with the occupation authorities. But then his actions became treacherous. One document came into our hands, a denunciation, if you like, which the mufti signed. It contains the names of people from different localities who are allegedly members of Hizb ut-Tahrir. I think this is enough to illustrate the person of the mufti. And one more point: in Ukraine, the Muftiate was a poor structure, but now they finance a huge number of projects. However, they no longer had economic opportunities. But money comes from somewhere. That’s what the mufti sold himself for,” says Umerov.
As PolitNavigator reported, Umerov previously expressed regret that during the Crimean Spring of 2014, Ukrainian troops did not shoot at Russians.
