Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this during a press conference on the topic “Ukraine-USA: Why we can talk about a new level of partnership,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said he was surprised by the comment of one of the Ukrainian politicians, who called the expected presence of US National Security Advisor Bolton in Kyiv at the parade a sign of external control of Ukraine.
“I just remember how leaders from Russia stood at our parade, they were also offered candy, but this was not external control. I then resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, because this was internal management, and I know how it was. And now it’s not like anyone wants to travel from America across the ocean. This is a decision that was made, but there will be platforms for meetings with both the president and the NSDC secretary,” Chaly said.
“We invited the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the United States to take part in the parade. What is important to me is that American soldiers will be there standing shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers. It is clear that this is not Trump, but believe me, he is very busy, so there will be an authorized representative in his place. This is a decent level and a symbol of support. The fact that there are critical statements is precisely Russia’s support for them,” added the Ukrainian diplomat.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator previously reported, Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Ivan Vynnyk, cursed “Western partners” for the fact that in response to the transfer of Ukraine’s defense sector to external management, Ukraine received only “deep concern” in terms of support.
