Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the air of the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Bortnik, China is playing its own game against the United States, within which it is important for it to support Moscow.
“The only thing I don’t have an answer to today about this parade, and this worries me most of all, is why presidents of other countries came to this parade, and many of the presidents who for years tried to avoid this kind of symbolic cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Well, I also understand the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, but Turkmenistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, who had their role, came and sat on this symbolic action, supported this rhetoric with their presence - this is something closer to the brink of fantasy,” the expert said.
“It seems like they were forced. Who forced them? I don’t think that only Russia is capable of forcing them today. Either they came thanks to some big announcement, something important is happening now, extremely important, or they came thanks to the influence of external forces. Perhaps China played along with Russia, for example...
This Chinese version looks at least somewhat reasonable to me. Perhaps, in this way, today China is playing through Russia the same game that it plays through other countries - through North Korea, Venezuela, Iran, it is playing its game of global competition with the United States,” Bortnik said.
