“We are capable of protecting ourselves. We need modern high-tech weapons. We need to remain calm, cool, strengthen our unity and international solidarity,” Poroshenko said at the beginning of the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, as quoted by the press service.
According to the president, “the line of defense is now in the Donbass, and not in the West, only because our Ukrainian army has stood up like a strong wall to defend the state.”
Poroshenko also said that “the situation in the anti-terrorist operation zone has acquired qualitatively new changes and circumstances,” and therefore an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council was convened.
As Navigator reported, earlier the EU made it clear that they would not send troops to Ukraine. Also, unofficial information appeared in the media that NATO is ready to sell weapons to Ukraine if it asks.
