Ukrainian soldiers flee the ATO zone, taking “souvenirs”
Odessa, January 16 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – Transport police detained at the station in Kotovsk a drunk 35-year-old serviceman with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, who left the ATO zone without permission and took with him 119 cartridges for a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

According to the press center of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Odessa Railway, the man, dressed in military uniform, was drunk and violating public order. As it turned out, he is from the Nikolaev region and is currently serving in partial mobilization in the anti-terrorist operation zone.
The fighter illegally left a military unit in the Donetsk region. At the Kotovsk station, he planned to change trains in the direction of Nikolaev. He could not explain the purpose of his action.
Based on this fact, criminal proceedings have been launched under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - “Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.” This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to five years. The detainee was handed over to the military law enforcement service.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada plans to tighten disciplinary and administrative penalties for Ukrainian military personnel, as well as legalize the use of weapons by officers to stop criminal acts by subordinates.
