Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and ex-Ambassador of Ukraine in Moscow Konstantin Grishchenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“Today, I think, the main task for Ukraine is to find a formula for ending the military conflict and a political settlement in the east that would meet our long-term interests and which, unfortunately, cannot be achieved without the participation of Russia. This is the main question. I realize how difficult it is to propose a formula today that suits everyone, including those who are worried about Ukraine’s ability to pursue an independent, tough course in modern conditions,” the diplomat noted.
“But we must understand that it is very important today to close the issue that constitutes the greatest threat to both internal stability and economic progress of Ukraine, in order to further move along the path of reforms, building a democratic society, which will, I am sure, differ from the structures that dominate today in Russia, where we will be able to show our achievements for integration into the common European space, that is, into the EU,” added Grishchenko.
