Such data were obtained during a survey conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Center, presented at a press conference in Kyiv by sociologist Irina Bekeshikna.

She reported that as of July, only seven percent of Ukrainians support the free sale of weapons and 10 percent admit the possible existence of “non-state armed groups.”

Respondents were also asked how they felt about the events in Mukachevo.

"There were two main theories," Bekeshkina points out. "The first was that it was a criminal showdown between two groups fighting over contraband. And the second was that Right Sector was trying to stop the local mafia from smuggling. Opinions, it must be said, were divided. The majority generally believed it was a criminal showdown between two groups ( 40 percent – ​​Ed. ). But a third of the population believed Right Sector was trying to stop the local mafia. 17 percent were undecided. And another 0 percent of the population said they knew nothing about this situation."
