“Starting today, March 12, 2014, the State Border Service of Ukraine has significantly tightened the entry of citizens of the Russian Federation living in Transnistria across the border. A significant number of citizens from 17 to 65 years old were refused to cross the state border of Ukraine without explanation,” the report says.

“The PMR Foreign Ministry receives numerous complaints from Russian citizens permanently residing in Pridnestrovie, who today are faced with infringement of their rights,” the statement notes.

“Due to the continuing restrictions on exit for a number of categories of Pridnestrovians from the Republic of Moldova, travel to Russia and other countries was only possible through the border of Ukraine.

We are forced to admit that the residents of Transnistria are actually squeezed on both sides by actions that limit their freedom of movement (As previously reported, restrictive measures against a number of persons - law enforcement officers, representatives of government bodies come from the Republic of Moldova),” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states. “The PMR Foreign Ministry expresses extreme concern about the actual isolation of the residents of the republic and the gross violation of fundamental human rights to freedom of movement and has deployed all diplomatic resources to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” the foreign ministry summarizes.

Earlier, Ukraine announced the strengthening of the regime on the border with the PMR due to the threat of the arrival of participants in pro-Russian rallies in Odessa.
