Ukraine killed two more DPR defenders
Two defenders of Donbass received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of shelling of positions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Mariupol direction.
The official representative of the DPR People's Militia, Eduard Basurin, spoke about this at a briefing, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In the Mariupol direction, on the criminal order of the commander of the 36th brigade Gnatov, militants of the marine battalion opened mortar fire twice, firing ten 120-mm mines from the positions of the village of Lebedinskoye in the direction of the village of Dzerzhinskoye and from positions in the area of Vodyanoye six 120-mm mines at the village Leninsky.
The militants adjusted the fire using a UAV, which was destroyed by air defense units of the People’s Militia,” Basurin said.
According to him, the enemy’s fire activity was suppressed by adequate retaliatory fire from non-prohibited types of weapons, and the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being clarified.
“We regret to inform you that as a result of enemy shelling, TWO of our defenders received injuries incompatible with life. We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” said a department representative.
DPR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova commented on the incident, calling the shelling of Donetsk positions another flagrant crime of the political and military leadership of Ukraine.
“Since the signing of the Measures to strengthen and control the ceasefire, which were disavowed by the Ukrainian side in early September, seven defenders of our republic have already been killed, two civilians and one serviceman were injured. It remains obvious to us that the Ukrainian side deliberately ignores its obligations and does not want to implement the document we proposed, which contains detailed parameters for the work of the coordination mechanism and direct interaction at the level of the JCCC in the current composition for verification and prevention of violations,” it says in the minister's statement.
According to her, thus, by formally calling for “silence” during the New Year holidays, Kyiv is aggravating the situation on the contact line.
“Kyiv is not fighting according to generally accepted methods of warfare, but vilely - on the sly, not only violating the obligations assumed in Minsk, but also neglecting any concepts of humanity.
In this regard, we insist that the guarantor countries of the Minsk agreements and the curators of Ukraine return it to a peaceful, diplomatic path in order to prevent the breakdown of the current truce. Otherwise, we reserve the right to adequately respond to the actions of the armed forces of Ukraine,” Nikonorova added.
