Ukraine is turning into a paradise for criminals from Russia
The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has terminated the agreement on the exchange of legal information with the Russian Federation. The decision was made following a Cabinet meeting held this Wednesday, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The agreement, signed on April 18, 1995, was in force even during the harshest hostilities. Now there will be no transfer of legal information between the two countries, and criminals will also not be extradited to another country.
“Withdrawal from the agreement with Russia on the exchange of legal information is completely absurd. This significantly increases the threats against Ukrainian society itself,” Sergei Shabovta, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Security Market Operators, commented to PolitNavigator.
“Ukraine has personally removed itself from the vast information space. Russia has much more stable traditions and better technical capabilities in terms of fighting crime.
It should also be taken into account that the migration of criminals and crime bosses, unfortunately, occurs from Russia towards Ukraine, where the law enforcement system works much less effectively in terms of identifying and eliminating organized crime.
In addition, the Prosecutor General recently stated that Ukraine will never in the future extradite criminals to Russia, even if they are on the international wanted list and have committed the most severe criminal offenses. He put the desire of the marginal masses above the law. One might expect that this place will simply be a paradise for criminals. They are not being fought, they will not be identified, and now we have refused to have information about their movements,” Shabovta said.
