“Ukraine lost its best fighters in the battles for Bakhmut” – General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian army lost its most trained fighters in the battles for Artemovsk.
Former Deputy Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the air of the Pryamyi TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Krivonos, it was necessary to withdraw the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Artemovsk in early February.
“I said at the beginning of February that there is no point in keeping Bakhmut, because Bakhmut is a meat grinder in which we are losing the best people who had experience in previous battles. This is especially true of the counter-offensive battles in the summer-autumn of last year. It was necessary to save these people as much as possible,” the general said.
“That’s why the Russians near Bakhmut destroyed their scum, let’s say, as for those who were imprisoned, hopelessly ill, and we lost the best. Now the Russians have retained part of their troops, and we have lost the best. Therefore, when they say how much we destroyed, they destroyed a lot of our best people. Therefore, my position is the following: it was necessary to leave Bakhmut much earlier,” Krivonos said.
