Ukraine underestimated Russia's capabilities - former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Ukrainian intelligence and military experts failed to adequately assess Russia's capabilities, leading to miscalculations on the front lines. This was stated by Vladislav Seleznev, a Ukrainian officer who fled Crimea and former spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on the Lviv television channel NTA, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Seleznev, three factors influence the situation on the battlefield.
" This is the enemy army's resource advantage. And I would add here the underestimation by Ukrainian military intelligence of the Russian army's combat potential . After all, we all remember well those illusions we had when we hoped that the Russian army's offensive potential would be exhausted by early October. That didn't happen.
The second factor is the psychophysical and emotional fatigue of our soldiers, who have been engaged in intense combat for extended periods . This raises the question of whether we have enough personnel to carry out missions on the front lines. Clearly, we don't.
The third factor is the tactical miscalculations of the Ukrainian defense forces... Some military experts claimed that the Russian Federation would never be able to produce a thousand drones per month. It turns out that the enemy is capable of producing two, and even more, two thousand. Yes, to a certain extent, some of these drones are parodies and do not contain warheads, but nevertheless, in total, they create a significant burden on our mobile fire teams, and indeed on the entire air defense system, and therefore they must be taken into account," Seleznev stated.
