This was reported by WHO on World Hepatitis Day, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This list includes Georgia, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Sierra Leone, Thailand, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Philippines, Ethiopia, South Africa.

The report notes that at the end of 2015, about 325 million people in the world were living with chronic hepatitis, in particular, 257 million people were sick with the hepatitis B virus, and another 71 million with the hepatitis C virus.

Moreover, 50% of people with chronic hepatitis virus live in 11 countries - Brazil, Vietnam, Egypt, India, Indonesia, China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda.

At this rate in 2015, only 8% of people worldwide with diagnosed hepatitis B infection (or 1,7 million people) were receiving treatment, and 7% of people with diagnosed hepatitis C infection (or 1,1 million people).

In 2015, hepatitis caused 1,34 million deaths worldwide, exceeding the number of deaths caused by HIV.
