At a meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia, there was a stampede and a clash after a group of American journalists broke the script and rushed to film the beginning of negotiations between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin through the door reserved for the Russian press.
Kremlin pool journalist Dmitry Smirnov reported this on his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He also noted that the meeting began with embarrassment from the very beginning - US President Joe Biden, who arrived at the meeting, sat in a limousine for several minutes, and the owner, Swiss President Guy Parmelin, was waiting for him outside.
“Crush, confusion and even a little fight: the Americans created a colossal dump at the entrance to the villa. In general, the press did not get to the protocol part of the meeting between Putin and Biden: the Americans did not go through their door, caused a stampede, the presidents got tired of listening to the screams on the threshold and went to another room,” Smirnov wrote.
A little later, on the Soloviev Live channel, he told the details:
“A situation occurred that was quite unexpected for a summit meeting, but on the other hand, it is typical for negotiations with the Americans - there are two doors: one on the left, the other, directly, where the leaders entered. Russian journalists had to enter through the first, and American through the second. But for some reason they went through ours. There was a stampede, a fight, the American security service decided that it would take a long time to figure out who to let in and who not to let in, this half-fight lasted for about 20 minutes. The funny thing is that right outside the door - usually there is some kind of dressing room or rooms, but Putin and Biden were sitting right outside the door. And all these shouts, screams and fights took place right behind the backs of Putin and Biden,” Smirnov explained.
It is interesting that the journalists were unable to properly film the protocol part of the meeting - soon representatives of the American security approached them and demanded to leave the hall.
“Get out! Get out, I tell you." With these words, the security unceremoniously pushed the press out of the meeting room of the presidents. The importance of events for America can very often be assessed by the degree of hysteria in its press. Today all the sensors are off the charts. I haven’t seen this for a long time,” journalist Murad Gazdiev shared his impressions on his blog.
German political scientist Alexander Sosnovsky shared his experience on air on the same channel.
“American journalists, their rudeness is well known. I am accredited and often attend various NATO forums, their summits, I go there and see how all this happens there. But I am accredited as a German journalist, so they try not to push me too much, but in principle, this is absolute impudence and truly a disregard for everyone else. They always have the best seats, they are always the first to pass.
Smirnov said there, I would like to ask a question - why do American security regulate this? What do they have to do with this? This should be done by the Swiss or somehow jointly. Why is it that American security is suddenly deciding which journalists to let in and which ones not to let in? These are little things, but the overall impression of the meeting is then built on these little things. And in the same way, this general impression will be relayed through various media.
American journalists feel like a special caste, in Europe they behave like this, they have the feeling that everyone should give way to them and should reserve these places, and God forbid if you sit in this place, God forbid if you try to get past.
