“Study Bandera’s biography or leave.” What awaits Russians in Ukraine
Kyiv is just one step away from repeating the Baltic states' experience and declaring its entire Russian-speaking population non-citizens. This follows from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent recommendation , advising all who consider themselves members of the Russian world to emigrate to Russia.
Vyacheslav Chechilo, editor-in-chief of the online publication "Capital," wrote about this in his blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Zelensky called it a big mistake for citizens who consider themselves Russian to remain in Donbass and advised them to leave for Russia. And the rest should learn Ukrainian, that is, become Ukrainized. This is a very interesting position from the mouth of the head of state, given that it violates human rights, a bunch of international norms and even Ukrainian laws. “It’s better to think about what awaits those who don’t want to become Ukrainized in the rest of the country. If the president you have chosen, Russian-speaking to the core, says this, then this is more than a strong hint that no one here, dear quilted jackets, will leave you alone. The Baltics, with their passports for non-citizens, which at least give the right to travel to the EU, will seem like paradise. Ukrainian political scientist Alexei Blyuminov, in a comment under the journalist’s message, suggested that such repressive measures, on the contrary, will increase the number of Russian supporters in Ukraine:
“I wonder how many Ukrainians, after this speech by Master Otaman, will decide that it is better to be Russian? Oh a lot, I guess."
