Ukrainian soldiers, having arrived in the Donbass ATO zone, are faced with the categorical hostility of the local population, who do not want to fight themselves and do not welcome the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A resident of Lutsk, who returned from the ATO zone, Andrey Gemba, stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel.

According to him, “there” there is no one to defend Ukraine, so residents of the western regions have to do this.
“One and a half thousand kilometers away, where not everyone is waiting for you, it’s hard. But this is why we are military. There is a full-scale war going on there with serious danger. There is something to think about. It’s better to go and conquer now than to wait for it to go to our parents and children, so that it doesn’t come here. Not everyone there is pro-Russia. There are, of course, people for Russia who shout: “We have nothing against Ukraine, but we want to join Russia.” But there are also normal people. There were also those who shouted: “Bandera! We are your children." In principle, this is also Ukraine and it needs to be defended. There is no one there,” Gemba said.
