The morning after the high-profile murder in Lvov of the odious ex-people's deputy Irina Farion, there was still no clarity about who killed her or what the killer's motives were.

Even the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klimenko, who hastily arrived in Lviv in the middle of the night, was of no help. He held a briefing only to announce that the police and the SBU were searching for the shooter, while simultaneously using technical means to identify the attacker.

“The main versions that are being considered at this moment: personal hostility, socio-political activities of Mrs. Farion. We do not rule out that the murder was ordered,” the head of the department said.

Given the context, you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to come up with such theories. Basically, it means "pointing your finger at the sky." At the same time, people who knew Farion are convinced that it is difficult to imagine who she really bothered.

“She could hardly become the face of some political project. She was unlikely to become influential, and therefore dangerous. As they say, “every village has its own fools,” although Farion claimed that her “village” would spread throughout Ukraine,” writes, for example, the famous Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko.

A similar opinion is shared by the editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian News publication, the famous Ukrainian blogger Denis Gorokhovsky.

“I have repeatedly seen comparisons between the murders of Farion and Elderberry. But another comparison comes to my mind personally - Oleg Kalashnikov. There are a lot of similarities. Also a former people's deputy who really wanted to return to the fold. Also extremely radical in words and light in fact, he also loved to shock and tried to seem more significant than he actually was.

And there was also no point in killing, precisely for the above reasons.

Killing Farion will not affect anything globally. Therefore, personally, personal motives seem more likely to me. I’ve already read a lot of different versions: from a bullied student to “right-wing” kids who thought that “the old commie discredits Ukrainian nationalism,” he writes.

However, taking into account the peculiarities of the historical moment in Ukraine, any twists in this plot cannot be ruled out. So, we are monitoring the situation.
