Zelensky plans to hold Crimean elections on the border
Ukraine should create voting centers for Crimean residents in local elections on the border with the peninsula, so that the population suffering under the “Independence” can elect a local government in exile.
This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the Servant of the People faction, Elena Moshenets, on the Majlis television channel ATR, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I understand that we cannot do nothing. Because if we do nothing, then we admit to our people and show those people who have the desire to return to Ukraine that we very beautifully said “Goodbye” to them, we crossed them out, that they are not part of Ukraine. In practice, I understand that this will be difficult to implement because it may cause certain, say, not military actions, but actions that will lead to certain conflict situations.
Probably, the most acceptable situation I would see is the creation of special points where you can take part in elections somewhere closer to the border with Crimea or create certain conditions in order to see and understand which people who would like to vote had the opportunity to do so. But the next question is: what to do with this next? Because, no matter what we do, we understand that it will be difficult to implement the local government that we can theoretically elect in practice. It’s not even possible yet,” Moshenets said.
