Poroshenko threatens Crimeans with political reprisals under the article “Treason to the Motherland”
Any citizen of the country falls under the most stringent article in Ukrainian legislation on high treason, if there is “political will”.
This was stated on air by the fake permanent representative of the Ukrainian president in Crimea, Boris Babin, on the ZIK television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the official, this concerns Crimeans who supported joining Russia and cooperate with the Russian authorities.
“Theoretically, everything is fine - we have a Criminal Code, there is an article on “Treason,” sorry, very simple. Honestly, I'm a lawyer and I know that there is a political issue, there is a legal issue. And, if there is a political position, then applying this article legally, in accordance with the international human rights institution, will not pose any problem, if there is a desire,” said the head of the virtual representative office.
Earlier, former MP and former acting deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andriy Senchenko, stated that Ukraine would give all Russians 24 hours to leave Crimea after its "liberation."
