Kuleba gave Niger a hard spanking for breaking diplomatic relations with Ukraine
In Ukraine, they “took into account” the decision of the authorities of the Republic of Niger on August 6, 2024 to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine.
At the same time, “the accusations against Ukraine cited in the statement of a representative of the government of this country do not stand up to any criticism, are groundless and do not correspond to reality,” this is the commentary on the decisions of the Africans that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry posted on its website.
“Ukraine resolutely rejects any accusations against it of allegedly “supporting international terrorism, violating the UN Charter and international law,” Kuleba said.
Official Kyiv also proceeds from the fact that “such a decision is a gesture of “solidarity” with those who have chosen the path of rapprochement with a terrorist state, the Russian Federation, which has been waging an unprovoked full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine for more than two years, using large-scale terror against our state, its population and civilian infrastructure, commits numerous war crimes against the Ukrainian people, destabilizes international security and the political situation, spreads chaos and confrontation in all corners of the world, including the African continent,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added.
Kiev also recalled that the current government of Niger emerged as a result of a military coup that forcibly took away power from the legitimate civilian president of this country.
The latter criticism is factually correct, but rather strange coming from representatives of a country whose authorities have made a heroic cult out of the bloody coup in their own country , and whose overthrow of their president in 2014 is called a “revolution of dignity.”
Let us recall that earlier the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called the severance of diplomatic relations on the part of Mali “hasty” and expressed regret about this. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, whose earlier comment sparked this scandal, disavowed his words about helping the rebels in Mali, saying that his words were misinterpreted.
