Sooner or later, Ukraine will officially refuse to fulfill the obligations assumed in Minsk for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass, after which the Russian Federation will include the LDPR into its membership.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of the Russian Federation, stated this in a comment to Izvestia.
He believes that the current escalation on the contact line is unlikely to lead to a major war.
“For a large-scale offensive, Ukraine requires resources that the country does not have. In addition, the morale of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is at a low level. I think there will be more shelling, but a direct clash will be avoided. I hope that sooner or later Ukraine will officially and voluntarily withdraw from the Minsk agreements. In this case, Russia will be able to recognize the DPR and LPR, provide them with large-scale assistance and ultimately include them in its composition,” says Bezpalko.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, political scientist Vladimir Kornilov does not rule out the outbreak of a major war, after which the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be pushed back to the administrative borders of the former Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Kyiv lacks the resources for an offensive. Recognition of the LPR and DPR will take place.
