Groysman wants to oblige adult Ukrainians to pay child support to their elderly parents

Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva called on Ukrainians to introduce "non-traditional" alimony payments, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the minister, children who have already grown up and become successful will be required to pay alimony to their disabled parents.

Thus, according to the minister’s arguments, even Article 51 of the Constitution states that parents are obliged to support their children who are under 18 years of age, so it would be completely logical to introduce a “reverse measure” for children with disabled parents.

Thus, one innovation from the Ministry of Social Policy already came into force on February 6 of this year. Law of Ukraine “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding strengthening the protection of the child’s right to adequate maintenance by improving the procedure for forced collection of alimony arrears.”

According to the new document, now those whose debt exceeds the amount of unpaid alimony for 6 months will not be able to travel abroad, will receive restrictions on driving a car, as well as using weapons. Also, the norm on performing socially useful works may be applied to the violator.

In fact, such an innovation is a camouflaged attempt to completely abolish pensions in the country and assign the responsibility of maintaining the elderly to their children.
