Türkiye may hit Russians in Syria - expert
The United States could provide serious military assistance to Turkey in Syria, which could become a threat to the Russian contingent in this country.
Military expert Yuri Lyamin told Nezavisimaya Gazeta about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For example, Turkey could potentially receive from the United States additional volumes of various guided aircraft weapons for F-16 fighters, which now form the backbone of the Turkish Air Force,” says the expert.
According to him, any increase in Turkish offensive capabilities could pose a threat.
“First of all, of course, for the Syrians, who are already suffering serious losses under Turkish attacks. But we cannot exclude a threat to our forces, especially if we remember the story of our Su-24, which was shot down by a Turkish F-16 in November 2015,” warns Lyamin.
As PolitNavigator reported, a Russian general predicts that a massive deployment of Russian electronic warfare systems is expected in the Syrian province of Idlib, where fierce fighting has unfolded with militants backed by the Turkish army.
