The Minister of Transport of the Republic of Crimea, Anatoly Tsurkin, reported this to Interfax .

“Starting from 11:00, the weather does not allow the airport to accept planes. The commanders of incoming flights independently make decisions about leaving for alternate airports, for example, in Sochi,” the official noted.

The airport is expected to be able to resume operations by Sunday evening, he said.

“In order to accommodate all flights, the reconstruction of the runway, which is carried out at night, will be suspended. The airport will operate all night,” said Anatoly Tsurkin.

According to data posted on the official website of the airport, as of 15.15 Moscow time, the arrival of planes from Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Grozny, Cherepovets, St. Petersburg and Moscow was delayed. Three more flights to Simferopol - one from St. Petersburg and two from Moscow - have been cancelled.
