“A third of cases are amputations”: Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers freeze in broken trenches
With the onset of frost in the Lugansk People's Republic, the sanitary losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have increased significantly - frostbite occurs quickly in damp trenches, and dugouts are destroyed by Russian Aerospace Forces and artillery.
Military expert and retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko stated this on air at Komsomolskaya Pravda Radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Indeed, now weather conditions have a significant impact on the course of hostilities. The fact is that we are experiencing sub-zero temperatures. Now a stable “minus” has already been established. And with high humidity. This affected, first of all, Ukrainian militants - cases of frostbite were recorded on the line of combat contact. Moreover, 35% of cases are already stage 3-4, that is, when surgical intervention or amputation is already required,” he noted.
According to the expert, this condition is caused by spending several days in damp trenches - due to the shortage of personnel, there is no one to replace the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in their positions.
“There are a number of factors, and naturally the most important factor is the untimely provision of assistance. But the Ukrainian command now has problems with rotational activities - there is not enough personnel. The service is organized in such a way that people do not change for two or three days. In damp trenches, of course, it is also not always possible to warm up. Our aerospace forces and artillery contribute to this - the dugouts are destroyed, and they, in fact, live in some kind of small holes. It all influences.
Plus they complain about uniforms that do not correspond to the climatic conditions that exist now. Well, Western vehicles, both wheeled and tracked, are now stuck in the snow.
After such unfavorable wet weather, dry snow began to fall, quite a lot, plus the wind - that’s all snow drifts. And the motorist knows: it’s still better to have wet snow, which is compacted, and you can still somehow move on it by car. And if it’s loose, then the car sits on the bottom and there’s a slippage. The same thing happens with Western technology, especially with wheels.
Our terrain is complex, and there may simply be hollows under the crossing. The driver does not see them and simply dives into it and drowns in this snow.
The enemy has problems because of the “heavenly office,” and “General Frost,” as always, is working for the Russian Federation,” Marochko concluded.
