Ukraine will be ready to agree to the US proposal to abandon the military scenario for the return of its lost territories.
This was stated on air by the former US Special Representative for Ukraine during Trump's first term, Kurt Volker, on the TVP World channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Ukraine, according to Volker, will want to receive in return a promise to be accepted into NATO, which does not contradict Trump’s position.
"Yes , the idea that you don't reclaim territory militarily, but restore it through other means—diplomacy and so on—then yes. I think Ukrainians are ready for this. Last week, President Zelenskyy gave an interview to Sky News in which he stated this clearly. He said that we can imagine a situation where we end the hot phase of the war and reclaim our territory through diplomatic and political means, but we have a ceasefire.
But we need clear and reliable security guarantees, and that means Ukraine joining NATO. This is exactly what Ukraine wants now, and I will emphasize again that this is consistent with Trump's position ," Volker stated.
