“The Belarusian question will be raised, it is already under discussion. Let me remind you that this is a small meeting and many topics will be discussed. But we know that the US President is coming with specific proposals, and one of the main points will be the resolution of the Belarusian crisis. We don’t know whether they will be able to agree on something, but our position is fundamental – that Russia should not interfere in the issue of Belarus. We want Biden to emphasize in this conversation that the Belarus crisis is not political. And it is very important to make holding new elections this year a priority,” Vecherko said.
According to him, at the summit, US President Joe Biden will represent Tikhanovskaya’s interests and demand that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin not interfere in the affairs of Belarus.
“It’s just that Belarus should not be the object of other people’s negotiations, but should be a subject and participant. It is necessary that Belarus be represented by Tikhanovskaya at all subsequent international meetings that will follow the meeting between Biden and Putin. We will try to get Tikhanovskaya to go with the delegation to the GXNUMX summit. We will work to ensure that Belarus is represented by democratic forces at the Eastern Partnership summit.
We will work to ensure that at the OSCE conference, which will take place in the coming weeks, the issue of Belarus is also raised, and there is representation of democratic forces.
