Berlin - Kyiv, November 04 (PolitNavigator, Vasyl Ablyazimov) – Just over a week ago, European politicians celebrated the elections in Western and Central Ukraine as a democratic, pro-European victory, writes the German publication Der Freitag . In fact, most of those involved in rapprochement with the West also include openly fascist parties.

“Radicalization in some parts of Ukraine is very high. Charges such as “a Kremlin agent”, “separatist”, “special services officer” or “traitor” are prepared against those with a different opinion, including subsequent violence,” the publication says.

Yesterday's elections in the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk confirmed the anti-Kiev positions of the East, the publication notes.

One can, for obvious reasons, assert that the rebel leaders do not represent the will of the people, say that the elections are difficult to evaluate, but... firstly, the Kiev elections went no better, secondly, it is clear, first of all, that the majority of Eastern Ukraine clearly spoke out against the path of Kyiv and against the West, and established its political leaders.

But the West's reaction to the elections in Ukraine shows that the West is probably not yet ready to admit this. The German TV channel ZDF, for example, when reporting on the vote on November 2, used the word “so-called” 7 times in a short story, etc. But all the German media hide three fundamental truths behind this:

  1. Even the Kiev elections showed that the pro-Western course in the East does not have a majority: not only in Lugansk and Donetsk, but also in Dnepropetrovsk the party opposing Kiev won, despite threats and obstacles, with a turnout of only 30-40% compared to 70% in West.
  2. Western propaganda is now trying to hide the fact of a 50% voter turnout in the Kyiv elections, which is even more ridiculous, since 30-40% has always been ensured by the now separated East.
  3. The Kyiv elections were banned in rebel areas and their vote was not counted.

Even if one can doubt the legitimacy of the rebel leaders, writes the German publication, one cannot doubt the will of the people. The West antidemocratically ignores this will if it does not correspond to the Western desired reality.

The fact that the majority in the East opposes Kyiv’s course has already been proven repeatedly and quite clearly.

The current price of Ukraine's 100% unilateral orientation towards a pro-Western vector, a nationalist and militant bet only deepens the division of the country, and could lead to the loss of half of the population of Ukraine, the German publication is confident.

The West can no longer call on Ukraine to continue its unilateral course, which will lead to further division of the country, the author of the publication summarizes.
