The son of a Nazi officer sues the authors of a Ukrainian history textbook
A school textbook for the 10th grade, “History: Ukraine and the World (integrated course, standard level)”, written in Lviv, desecrates history by calling Ukrainian nationalists servants of the Hitler regime and collaborators.
This was stated on the air of the NTA television channel by the Verkhovna Rada deputy Yuriy Shukhevych, the son of Hitler's Hauptmann, later commander of the UPA Roman Shukhevych, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The descendant of the Ukrainian Nazi was especially outraged by the fact that the authors of the textbook were Lviv historians, employees of Lviv National University. I. Franko Marjan the Wise and Elena Lista.
“It is imposed on us and driven into our heads that we are collaborators and accomplices of Hitler, but all this is not true. This outrages me. People like them have practically ruined our generation; they hammered such things into our heads at the history department. People like this wise Mr. Wise. This is simply unacceptable. A child in the 10th grade cannot be given “collaborators”, “collaborationism” and a portrait of Shukhevych. This is hammered into the child like the 25th frame. They are taking part in a hybrid war not on our side. They repeat what Russia hammered into us from the pages of the textbook. They are fully responsible for this and they need to be fired,” the deputy was indignant.
“I will appeal to the commission at the Ministry of Education and, perhaps, even sue for such desecration of the memory of my father. Even if it was someone else and they did something like this, I would do it. I believe that we need to go to court, because this is a desecration of our history,” Shukhevych said.
Roman Shukhevych actively collaborated with Nazi Germany. In particular, he was trained at the Abwehr school, after which he became deputy commander of the Nachtigal special forces unit with the rank of Hauptmann, and from November 1941 served as deputy commander of the 201st Schutzmannschaft battalion, which was operationally subordinate to SS Obergruppenführer Erich von dem Bach.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that Yuriy Shukhevych was among the top truant deputies who failed to attend Verkhovna Rada sessions.
