Playing off Biden and Trump in a fight over who will help Kyiv more - the Ukrainian diplomat almost lost his temper
The format proposed by US Republicans for providing assistance to Ukraine on loan terms is even worse than Lend-Lease, which, by the way, never worked.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yes, this has become a subject of internal American struggle. This could have been avoided at the time. However, this is not the end of the story. We need to do this in diplomacy so that there is again competition between Biden and Trump over who will help Ukraine more. It's still possible. You'll see, the same Donald Trump can change his rhetoric. They have already started talking about a loan,” the ex-ambassador was inspired.
However, the diplomat’s mood soon changed to the diametrically opposite one.
“We are told to take a loan.” Well, it's Lend-Lease! It's worse than Lend-Lease, in fact. Why wasn’t Lend-Lease used then? There are a lot of questions, and, frankly speaking, the further it goes, the more it becomes clear to me that I will not say publicly. I wish I was wrong,” Chaly said sadly.
