The destruction at the Syrian military airfield of Shayrat, which was attacked by American Tamahawk cruise missiles at night, is not fatal. Military correspondent Evgeny Poddubny writes about this on his Facebook.

“According to preliminary data, the runway is not damaged. The takeoff is strewn with fragments. Not all the planes were destroyed; 9 previously burned down in the hangars,” writes Poddubny, accompanying the posts with videos and photos.

Political scientist Gevorg Mirzayan put forward the version that the night bombing was a diversionary maneuver carried out in collusion with Russia.
“The strike could not have taken place without Russian permission, otherwise a) American missiles would have been shot down by the Russian missile defense system and b) Moscow could have struck back at the destroyers, as Putin once promised. Most likely, Moscow simply decided to help Trump (there is no doubt that this is a show - only a few people died from the attack of 60 cruise missiles, and, if we go by the words of the governor of Homs, some of them were from the neighboring village, that is became a victim of a miss by some missiles),” Mirzayan wrote in the Expert publication.
The political scientist believes that “the Kremlin, no less than the White House, was interested in allowing the Americans to let off steam and prevent an “explosion” in the form of the fall of Trump or the American invasion of Syria.”
“Unfortunately, representatives of the Syrian opposition, as well as Trump’s opponents within the United States, understand the staged nature of the current strike. Therefore, new provocations cannot be ruled out, in the form of “another use of chemical weapons by Assad,” which will require new, more decisive measures from Trump. Which at some point may not be limited to contractual shares,” Mirzayan wrote.
