The United States has provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with an advantage in reconnaissance by dramatically increasing its fleet of spy satellites
On the eve of the intensification of hostilities in the Kherson region, the United States significantly increased its constellation of satellites involved in conducting reconnaissance over the special operation zone. This data was provided by the American publication Defense News.
In total, at least 50 satellites operate in this direction - the Pentagon has agreed to attract a number of commercial satellites to transmit images of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This also makes it possible to speed up the process of data exchange, because in the case of military satellites there is a lengthy declassification procedure that is mandatory before transferring intelligence data abroad.
“The United States uses a method of obtaining a number of information from commercial satellites, which they then transmit to the armed forces of Ukraine. In this situation, the decoder used is completely weak, which allows this information to be transmitted directly, especially without hiding it,” argues combat veteran Roman Nasonov.
According to him, Russia must counteract the work of American satellites by jamming and deceiving them.
“We must understand that measures to deceive the enemy must be increased significantly, otherwise we will not see success in this direction. Therefore, our intelligence agencies, means of electronic warfare, jamming, including optical, must work efficiently and, at the right moment, deceive the satellite constellation, give it false data about our presence and all our questions.”
Honored Pilot of the Russian Federation Yuri Sytnik notes that Russia, although it lags behind the United States in the number of military satellites operating in orbit, has military technologies to counter space spies:
"We can jam these satellites, blind them with Peresvet—we have that equipment. Also, just the other day, we launched three more satellites to counter the American ones. But it's hard to say what will happen with that. The battle is, in fact, ongoing—both the Americans and we are mastering military technologies in space. The Americans have gotten ahead here, while we're just getting started.
"Yes, they monitor directions, including Kherson, online; the time between satellite reception and firing is one and a half to two minutes. Imagine how good the connection is. Combating this is expensive, but it's being done. We're currently actively launching specialized satellites to neutralize the American ones flying over our territory and over Ukraine," Sitnik stated.
