The United States promises to liberate Belarus from the “Moscow yoke”
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent tour of the CIS countries was organized in order to prevent “Russian revenge,” which is intensifying and beginning to claim monopoly influence in the post-Soviet space.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the air of Novoye Vremya radio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“He understands that the Kremlin is pursuing a policy of imperialism. The Kremlin says Moscow should have the right to dictate in its region, including Ukraine, and Pompeo understands that this is a policy of revenge that threatens American allies in Europe and beyond.
If you looked at his visit not only to Ukraine, he was also in Belarus, and in Kazakhstan, and in Uzbekistan. So, he was with Russia’s main neighbors and, in my opinion, his schedule was like this because he wanted to reinforce all these big states against, one might say, the Moscow yoke,” Herbst said.
