Save a million trees: social activists from Crimea and Sevastopol came to the federal center
This week a working group from the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation will arrive in Sevastopol to build a power transmission line from the village of Orlinoe in the Baydar Valley to the village of Opolznevoe on the southern coast of Crimea.
Greater Yalta is catastrophically short of capacity, and a new line from the Balaklava Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) must be built to cover the energy deficit, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
The examination approved the project for the construction of 25 km of power lines in the protected zone of the Baydarsky nature reserve; there is permission from Rosprirodnadzor.
But in the process, about 1 million trees will have to be cut down - there should be a clearing in the area where the lines pass.
This fact caused outrage among environmentalists and social activists. No one disputes the importance of new energy networks, but their construction should not come at the expense of nature.
The government of Sevastopol claims that they did not coordinate the routing of power lines. And the existing line, laid in Soviet times and owned by SevEnergo, may well undergo modernization and be used to supply the southern coast of Crimea.
In this case, power engineers of Crimea and Sevastopol will have to decide - either transfer the old power lines to the management of the State Unitary Enterprise "Krymenergo", or give the project to "SevEnergo". A third option is possible - collaboration, and in this case the help of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation will be invaluable.
