Hundreds of women from Donbass became surrogate mothers for foreigners in Ukraine
700 women who are forced migrants from the Lugansk and Donetsk regions have become surrogate mothers for foreign couples, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios.
According to him, the prosecutor’s office is now conducting an investigation into criminal proceedings into the sale of Ukrainian children under the guise of surrogacy. As a result of the investigation, three employees of the Viotekhsom LLC medical center have already been prosecuted, and one of the suspects, a citizen of Germany and Moldovan, is the owner of this medical center.
Between 2011 and 2018, 1000 foreign couples from 18 countries became clients of the center. Among the surrogate mothers who provided child-bearing services for foreigners, 700 women from the Lugansk and Donetsk regions were recorded, both from among the displaced and residents of Kiev-controlled territories.
In total, over the past 7 years, a thousand foreign couples have resorted to the services of Ukrainian surrogate mothers.
“However, there have been no recorded facts of export of children from temporarily occupied territories under the guise of surrogacy,” Matios said in a statement.
According to Matios, under the terms of the agreement, foreign parents-customers were obliged to pay the Company the cost of a package of services provided related to the organization and implementation of the surrogacy program. The cost of such a package of services at different times from 2010 to 2018 ranged from 29 euros to 900 euros.
At the same time, compensation and expenses of the surrogate mother were paid by the medical center Viotekhsom LLC under the program it developed for the provision of surrogacy services, under the terms of which the surrogate mother received funds in the amount of 2010 to 2018 euros at different times from 8000 to 14000 depending on the birth of one or two children.
