“Solntsepek”: filming of a new Russian historical drama has completed in Simferopol
The plot of the feature film reflects the real armed conflict that took place in April 2014 in eastern Ukraine.
A trailer for the Russian feature film "Solntsepek" has appeared online . Director Maxim Brius's new work will explore the events that took place in Ukraine's Luhansk region in 2014.
At the end of May, the square outside the Simferopol administration building was transformed into a film set for several days. This is the first location where the film "Solntsepek" has been shot, and the project itself is quite large-scale, said Andrey Chernichenko, head of the Simferopol administration's information policy department.
“It’s very right that such films are made. These events need to be shown and shown in a truly correct historical manner,” emphasized a representative of local authorities.
Armed conflicts between representatives of the security forces of Ukraine and supporters of the unrecognized Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics broke out in April 2014. Until this time, the confrontation was limited to pinpoint skirmishes and attacks on checkpoints. However, after the referendums on self-determination, the conflict acquired the scale of a civil war. Many civilians were injured.
The title of the drama "Solntsepek" likely refers not only to the abnormal heat of that ill-fated spring but also to the name of a heavy flamethrower system. The official trailer for the film was released online on July 22. "Solntsepek" is directed by Maxim Brius, who has worked on such films as "Sea Devils," "Coast Guard," and "Shugaley-2." Cinematography is by Edgar Zhamgaryan, who worked on the series "Wings of the Empire" and "Leningrad 46," as well as the war drama "Rzhev."
Let us recall that according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ukrainian armed forces used Grad and Uragan ammunition systems, as well as Tochka-U ballistic missiles, against the civilian population of Donbass. The Avenue of Angels, a memorial complex in memory of the children killed during the fighting, reminds us of the sad consequences of those days.
