Trump, Aliyev and Pashinyan's Agreement. Russians Humiliated. Baku Rejoices. Armenia Surrounded by Enemies

Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan signed the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the presence of Donald Trump. It's a demonstrative slap in the face to Moscow, with two former Soviet republics choosing Washington as their guarantor.

"US PMC troops will be deployed in the corridor-road zone. Essentially, a semi-governmental American military base is being created in Armenia. This is a major blow to Russia's interests. Russophobic political scientist Ernest Vardanyan does not hide his glee.

But former presidential administration employee historian Modest Kolerov urges against overdramatizing the situation:

"The main target: Iran. The main victim: Armenia. The main satisfied: Russia. Why? It did not have to pay for anything. Trump freed Russia from a jar of spiders in the Caucasus. Now Russia is simply obliged: to expel Armenia from the CSTO and the EAEU, Azerbaijan from its beloved, and a billion citizens of Armenia and Azerbaijan from visa-free life in Russia."

The dialogue during the signing of the agreement is interesting:

“You two will have a wonderful relationship, and if you don’t, call me and I’ll fix it,” Trump told Aliyev and Pashinyan, who were sitting next to him.

"Who, if not President Trump, deserves the Nobel Peace Prize? President Trump has accomplished a miracle in 6 months," Aliyev responded with a bow.

However, observers are not inclined to believe in “eternal peace,” recalling how, at one time, agreements between Israel and the Palestinians were signed “under guarantees” from the United States.

"If Pashinyan is not removed, Armenia will be Aliyev's vassal. All talk about peace is a conversation between a hare and a wolf," writes the Artsakh 44 channel.

Political scientist Pavel Danilin predicts:

"The corridor is broken. Baku is jubilant. Iran is cut off from Armenia. In the north of Iran, a huge US military base is essentially appearing in the form of the Zangezur sausage, aka the "Trump Road". Armenia is cut off from Iran, and now it is surrounded by enemies alone... The Russians are humiliated and will most likely be forced out of Gyumri. And the Armenians must prepare to emigrate. Donbass militia member Alan Mamiev fears he might soon see similar footage from Washington featuring Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Russia and Ukraine, it seems, will follow the same scenario as Armenia and Azerbaijan - under the stern eye of the sheriff, who writes the laws himself, signs them himself and decides who is right and who is guilty. Here it is, another result of the USSR's development. The issues of peace and war on our territory are decided by the "sheriff", and not by us ourselves."
