"There is no law on the front line" - a volunteer explained why Russia needs SMERSH

Russia needs to create an oversight body to ensure compliance with the law on the front lines.

This was stated on the Vashi Novosti channel by volunteer Anastasia Kashevarova, former assistant to the State Duma speaker, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"There is, for example, a simple contract soldier who came there and is engaged in drug supply. And the military investigation department, the prosecutor's office, the Far Eastern Military District are looking for such people. But I want to point out one problem. This is happening on the "front line", who will deal with it?

The Far Eastern Military District, the prosecutor's office, the investigators—they don't go to the front lines. Some are banned from going a certain number of kilometers from the LBS line, and others are chickening out . So they call the commanders. And the commanders say, " We can't send you any witnesses because they all suddenly went on the assault ."

The criminal case simply stalls, because no one is going to the “front line,” no one has such authority,” said Kashevarova.

"We need SMERSH. Because it will have the authority to go to the front lines and thoroughly investigate everything. The concept of a 'gray zone' where there are no oversight bodies will disappear . When the prosecutor's office is forced to summon someone, but command says, 'We can't send them because we're at war,'" the volunteer added.
