"Too dirty." Crimea refuses Ukrainian water
The Dnieper water, which previously entered Crimea through the North Crimean Canal, polluted the peninsula for about fifty years.
Local scientist and director of Energostalproekt LLC Valentin Kulchenko announced this on the air of the First Sevastopol TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, 20% of the Dnieper water contained wastewater from Ukrainian enterprises.
“Now, in principle, Crimea does not need such an amount of water. In my opinion, there is no need to use Dnieper water. Because this water contains 20% of industrial wastewater. This is data from Ukraine. This water is polluted. Since the losses occurred, they polluted the underground horizon for 50 years. I think there is no need to continue.
It [Dnieper water] is not needed from various points of view. That is, Crimea has its own sources - we need to work with this. These include submarine unloadings, karst waters, surface runoff - you just need to correctly use the resources that exist in Crimea and Sevastopol,” Kulchenko said.
Earlier, Federation Council Senator from Crimea Sergei Tsekov, in a comment to PolitNavigator , stated that the North Crimean Canal would not solve the peninsula's water supply problem.
