The Swiss bank gave Russia a free hand in Ukraine
The decision of the Swiss bank Credit Suisse Group AG to freeze $5 billion in Russian-related assets gives the Russian Federation a free hand in Ukraine.
The famous Russian publicist Yegor Kholmogorov writes about this in his Telegram channel.
“In April 2014, the President of Switzerland came to Putin and, threatening sanctions at all costs, ensured that Russian troops were not sent to Ukraine to overthrow the junta or reunite Novorossiya. As is known, the Swiss President's demand was satisfied. The Russian Spring was urgently curtailed and the “Minsk process” was eventually launched instead, writes Kholmogorov (the author’s spelling has been preserved).
He views Credit Suisse's decision as a break in the 2014 agreements.

“That is, the very same sanctions have come, the refusal of which was a condition of Russian restraint. Should we conclude from this that the mutual obligations of the Russian and Swiss authorities have lost force and our hands are untied in relation to Ukraine?” the publicist asks.
According to the Reitars agency, the actions of Credit Suisse Group AG are related to fears of being subjected to “repression” by Washington in connection with the anti-Russian sanctions imposed on August 22, aimed, among other things, at the financial sector of the Russian Federation.
