Sergei Mikheev: “United Russia” is bursting at the seams, a new patriotic force is needed
The ruling United Russia party will inevitably face a drop in ratings due to so-called “unpopular steps” such as increasing the retirement age - the population sees that, while the authorities are calling for inevitable difficulties, Russian oligarchs continue to increase their capital.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this at the Politkafe meeting in Moscow, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Problems in the development of the regions overlapped with problems in the United Russia rating. What will happen next? I think the ratings will fall apart because the decisions that they themselves call “unpopular” are also “necessary.” But if you want to prove to the people that they are necessary, then you must show how everyone is harnessed to this burden. And if we hear that Russian billionaires are getting richer faster than American ones, then what is the point in this reasoning?
In the Russian, Russian mentality, it would be clear - “The Fatherland is in danger”, pension reform is bursting at the seams - “everything for the front, everything for victory.” Many would understand, only then it is necessary to show that everyone is harnessed.
This reform concerns those who need a pension, but there are people, a minority, who have enough of everything. They say: “There’s no other way,” but in that case, grab this anti-rating,” said the political scientist.
“I often hear reproaches: “Well, you’re rocking the boat.” I don’t rock the boat, I’m firmly against any “orange”, destructive things, but you also need to know the limits. Competently build a policy, take into account that this will happen, and then, perhaps, build these combinations differently.
And since you don’t want to, or you thought that all this would go completely painlessly, you will get a drop in ratings. Ratings will fall, and Putin's majority will be eroded. Those who trust the authorities and are even willing to sacrifice something want to see responsibility and patronage from the state.
As a result, there is a demand for certain new political forces. No wonder they started talking, they say, maybe “United Russia” will fall apart. I don't know, maybe it will fall apart. We need to somehow compensate for these negative effects. In my opinion, there is a need for a new patriotic force,” added Mikheev.
