Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin ushered in the country's elite guards unit, which will take part in the Victory Parade in Moscow on June 24.

The ceremonial departure of the Serbian guards took place today, June 11, at the military airfield “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlovich”. The event was attended by Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko and Guard Commander Major General Milomir Todorovic.
“In 1941, the Serbs led the first anti-fascist uprising in Europe, in 1944, Yugoslav partisans, together with the Red Army, liberated Belgrade and expelled the Nazi occupier forever, and 75 years later, Serbia is free to decide for itself and choose its friends,” he said, addressing the guards. In turn, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko recalled that the parade in Moscow is a key event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory Day over fascism.
“The participation of the President of Serbia and the Serbian Army Guard has a great response in Russia, and in addition to decorating the parade, members of the Guard will bring satisfaction and confirm the freedom-loving tradition of Serbia, which is a tradition of heroism and the fight against aggressors.
Participation in the festive parade will become a symbol of our relations and their high level. I would like to note that the Serbian Army Guard, in addition to units from the countries of the former Soviet Union, will be the only foreign unit at the military parade,” the ambassador noted.
