This was stated by the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine Grigory Ostafiychuk.

He added that as part of the investigation into the case of the cauldron near Ilovaisk, “we notified the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Mr. Gerasimov, and 10 military personnel, whose presence in Ukraine during the Ilovaisk events was definitely established, of suspicion. “In accordance with the law, suspicion was sent to them in the Russian Federation, and appropriate responses were received,” said the head of the Main Investigation Department of the SBU.

The SBU added that “under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff, Gerasimov, they organized the planning, preparation and outbreak of a military conflict on the territory of our state... thus, we were notified of the suspicion of the Chief of Staff of the Russian Federation, Mr. Gerasimov.”

Currently, one of the Kyiv district courts is considering the issue of a preventive measure against the chief of the Russian General Staff, as well as his detention and delivery to court, since he is a citizen of the Russian Federation.

The Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine also considers Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army Valery Gerasimov to be the main ideologist of the armed conflict in Donbass.

This was stated today by the Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios.

“The ideologist of the outbreak of aggressive war and military conflict in the east of Ukraine is and is suspected of this on the basis of the collected factual materials, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Gerasimov,” said Matios.
