Russia will go on a legal offensive to prove the illegality of Western sanctions imposed for reunification with Crimea. Alexander Molokhov, head of a group of lawyers under the head of Crimea, stated this at the “Forum of Friends of Crimea” in Livadia.

"The sanctions regime is illegitimate. They were imposed in circumvention of the UN Security Council. We plan to challenge the Crimean sanctions and launch legal proceedings at both the ECHR and the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg," he said, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The most important thing is that we should not just make excuses to someone. We need to go on the offensive, to do this on the legal front, including, to protect the rights of Crimeans at the international level, to fight sanctions,” added Molokhov.
“Despite the unfavorable background in international relations, there are some positive trends in the situation... Public opinion is changing in favor of the Crimeans, their choice. In March 2014, a negative resolution of the UN General Assembly was supported by 100 countries, then at the end of last year a similar resolution was supported by 70 countries. As they say, the dynamics are obvious,” the lawyer said.
He noted that the position of UN rapporteurs is also changing. In particular, one of the latest documents stated that as a result of the sanctions, “the rights to life support and free determination of residence are violated.” “The regime of water, transport, and energy blockade does not interfere with anything,” Molokhov emphasized.
