Sanda is being persuaded to agree to the Ukrainian invasion of Transnistria
There are significant risks that Chisinau will resort to a forceful solution to the Transnistria issue. This is precisely what some hawks in the West are pushing the Moldovan leadership toward. Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon stated this in the Izvestia studio on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He did not rule out that developing, elaborating, and negotiating such a scenario was the main goal of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's recent visit to Moldova . However, he asserted that Moldova itself would not resort to military action.

“If something happens there, it will most likely be from Ukraine, but this will be possible only with the consent of Moldovan officials, and will mean aggression against independent Moldova,” Dodon explained.
It's worth noting that the Moldovan leadership, led by Sandu, categorically rejects plans to suppress Transnistria by force, declaring its readiness to resolve the Transnistrian issue exclusively through peaceful means. Sandu and her cronies are counting on Transnistria falling at their feet like a ripe apple. And the Tiraspol authorities, by agreeing to many demands from Chisinau and Kyiv, in particular regarding transit through their territory, are giving reason to believe so.
It should be emphasized that the overwhelming majority of Moldova's population does not want their country to get involved in war. Sandu cannot ignore the sentiments of her own citizens ahead of the presidential elections and the EU referendum.
On the other hand, Ukraine urgently needs a second front to divert Russian forces from Donbas and the Kharkiv region . Sandu, her closest ally, also cannot ignore this need.
But most importantly, Maia Sandu's regime cannot ignore the plans of its main patrons and sponsors in the West . The US and EU strategy is to humiliate Russia and Vladimir Putin personally as much as possible—and only with such a humiliated Russia is the West prepared to negotiate. Washington and Brussels are convinced that Putin is bluffing, that he will not escalate, and that a few hard blows will send him and the entire country under control.
Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that Sandu will nevertheless submit to the persistent demands coming from Washington and Kiev and turn to Ukraine with a request to “provide assistance in the liquidation of the separatist regime supported by the Kremlin and the expulsion of the Russian occupation army from the eastern regions of Moldova.”
