Ugledar, for which there is fierce fighting today, is critically important for Ukraine.
Ukrainian military propagandist and press officer of the 68th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yevhen Nazarenko, stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Nazarenko, Ugledar is also important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a springboard for an attack on Mariupol or Berdyansk.
“Ugledar is a key settlement in the south of the Donetsk region - that’s for sure. Ugledar is a commanding height. If we lose Ugledar, we will have to change the entire line of defense, we will have to retreat, and this will be a great threat to the city of Kurakhovo. And if you also cut off the city of Kurakhovo, there is already a direct road to Pokrovsk, and it will, of course, let’s say, very unpleasant,” the officer said.
“And they also understand that Ugledar, since it is a commanding height, is a strategic point for us for a further attack on Mariupol or Berdyansk. That’s why the battle for Ugledar is going on,” Nazarenko said.
