“It’s a waste to meet Poroshenko,” – political scientist on the results of his trip to Germany
The refusal of Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron yesterday to attend a joint press conference with Petro Poroshenko following negotiations in Germany indicates that Western leaders are becoming reluctant to meet with the Ukrainian president.
Kiev political scientist Alexander Semchenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“The meeting with Poroshenko was a coup for Merkel and Macron. You are walking down the street, a man jumps up to you: “Oh, Vasya, hello, long time no see!” You tell him: “yes, yes, haven’t seen you for a long time,” you move on, and immediately forgot about the meeting.
Merkel and Macron at the Charlemagne Prize ceremony said that a united Europe has great prospects, and the topics that Poroshenko outlined, i.e. Nord Stream 2, Crimea, sanctions against Russia, the shelling of Katerynivka were not mentioned anywhere.
