After and. O. Ukrainian President Alexander Turchynov on Monday signed a law according to which Crimea is recognized as a “temporarily occupied territory”, and the entry there of persons without Ukrainian citizenship is possible only with a special permit; transit through the Kerch Strait may remain the only land way to get to Crimea.

The Federal Passenger Company told Kommersant that trains to Crimea via Ukraine are running on schedule “as long as there is such a possibility.” Decisions on adjustments in the company will be made after the Ukrainian law comes into force, that is, on May 10-11.

A source close to the Ministry of Transport notes that “there are more and more people traveling to Crimea through the crossing due to fears of problems at the Ukrainian border.” There are currently four ferries operating here, with five more planned by mid-May. Already, many kilometers of traffic jams are forming at the crossing in the port of Kavkaz. According to ITAR-TASS, cars wait in line for up to 10-15 hours.

Passenger transportation to Crimea via Kerch using a single ticket will start on May 1; tickets began to be sold on Monday; 50 tickets were sold on the first day. Now the cost of a one-way trip is just over 3 thousand rubles. Passengers will travel by reserved seat to Krasnodar or Anapa, then take buses to the ferry crossing and then take a bus again to one of the major Crimean cities.
